Burning Oceans

Turn to see you pulling my weight

to find a new way to lead myself astray

Oracles reveal truths too grim to be real

Face to face with my ghosts,

I gaze into eyes exposed beneath veil

Embracing fall, the endless night prevails

Windward searching

Reaching for the surface

Still I descend

By the end

I convulse as I let go

The chains that bind me, no longer an obstacle

Burn the bridges that I traversed in effort to try and keep an open mind

An appalling state of sickness, my fate

Born of this rot

At the end of the line, I remember those halcyon days of childhood with no worries, fears or regrets.

Now terror reigns, and takes hold of my body like a boulder on my chest.

The crux of life is that each carries his own crown of thorns

The last thing you'll learn before the end is that you've always been alone
