You're Alive

Its early, sun is rising, and I'm lying on my side Gazing off, for what I swear, feels like hours at a time And I'm alive. But I'm not living Enough of all this jealous envy, it only makes us blind I see it all the time, rooms full of empty eyes And I swear. I swear we're better than Gossip driven junkies, boasting narcissistic ties The center of attention, can't find no compromise Does it make you happy? Or does it just keep you Distracted by these selfish dreams of having way too much As soon as it gets full you've got to buy a bigger cup And is it ever? Will it ever be Enough of all these pessimistic thoughts stringing along If you're leading by example well you're doing it all wrong And its a black hole, That'll keep our souls from Finding their true place, To shine off into space Showering the darkness, leaving color in its place And you're alive.
