Grandfather's Theme

We've come a long, long way since the days of my grandfather's time

And I can't say it's all been forward

I don't know what I'd say to any grandson of mine

If he was trying to make his own way, stop

I hate to see him go

But I'd be glad to know

Part of me would live to see tomorrow

I thought our days were, bought and paid for

We came to find that time was all we fought

And a man and his horse used to be worth two bucks a day

Now that won't even pay for the hay, and that's the horses meal

I played in a band

I lived in an old Chevrolet van

Back in the days of the automobile

We lived on the land

And tried to make a stand

Just hopin' man would learn to get by

And we poisoned the earth

And took her for all she was worth

But it was here I's born and here I'll die

And you can't get away

From the final judgement day
