Pinnodmy went walking
With his hands for talking
He couldn't talk like other boys
'Cause he was deaf and dumb
The kids would all make fun
They'd say his hands were just like toys
He waved his hands to speak
He felt just like a freak
He didn't know no other way
He wished that he could talk
And not use slate and chalk
He didn't have a thing to say
Always walking
People talking
Never in his way
He'd like to be just one of them
He'd like to really say
To use his tongue
To use his lung
Just to make a sound
Without his hand he couldn't stand
He couldn't get around
When all the world is dead
And all tucked up in bed
He would sit alone and cry
Because he waved his hands
They could not understand
So he would stop and wonder why
