Got off the bus this morning

been a long time since I been home

Walkin’ thru town down on Main Street

everything was now gone

The old watering hole was gone

a dollar store in its place

I wondered if any of my old friends were around

I’d love to see a familiar face

I wandered into the General Store

my ol’ buddy Jimmy was mopping up the floor

He had a big ol’ smile on his face

You know he’s never left this place

He said there’s nothing wrong with

being from a smalltown

Everybody here knows your name

Big city life will bring you down

no one cares just the same

Then he smiled and his face lit up

I knew that he was right

Ain’t nothing wrong with being from a smalltown

God it’s good to be home tonight
