After the Storm

After the storm

I crawled to the shore

And all the world was still

I began to breathe again

After it all

I remembered like a dream

My hands upon the rail

The thought of letting go

But something saved me

I almost let myself drown

From out of the nothingness

After I cried

For a very long time

So much had been done

And it can't be undone

After I tried

Learning not to feel

The wreckage in the sand

Hidden by the tide

Sing me from the rocks

Sing me from myself

Sing me back to sandcastles by the shore

There were colors in the clouds
