No time to pretend
No time to take a step back
How to define yourself
In a word that keeps your mind trapped
No scream to grip your silence
No love enough to drown you
No breath to keep your patience
Love your dream and break it later
And you think
This fight is not your own, is not your own, is not your own
No space to sing your sorrows
No glory enough to blind you
How can love ever be felt
When the door slams loud behind you
No story to be told
You’ve got you own
No voice to lay upon
Standing still wondering who you’re running from
And you think
This fight is not your own, is not your own, is not your own
“This fight is not your own”, was actually a phrase my therapist told me last year.
And she meant that my internal struggle/fight/battle isn’t mine but is my family’s and my parents’.
But this extends to many more things that we’re carrying from other people and we try to fulfil that aren’t “ours” and don’t come from us. Like dreams of others, expectations etc.
Written about the moments of frustration because you don’t know who you “are” or who you want to be. Who you’re living for and do the things you do.
That nothing is enough to make you feel “happy” “free” or relieved unless you live for yourself and follow your true essence and purpose in life.
There you go….getting emotional here…
