The Hubris of Humanity, Pt.1

In the grand passage of time, we assert our dominance

Blinded by our own brilliance, ignorant of consequence

Five extinctions past, the planet bore the scars

Yet life found a way, beneath the sun and stars

Through fire and ice, she persevered, she thrived

While we, in our arrogance, thought ourselves revived

Ego, the silent architect of our demise

Crafting monuments of greed under polluted skies

In our self-made haze, we lose nature's ancient gaze

Forgetting the harmony, the delicate cosmic phase

A sixth extinction looms, a shadow on the land

Our legacy of plunder, we refuse to understand

What we destroy is not the Earth, but our own kin

In our conquest for more, the true cost buried deep within

Rivers poisoned, forests razed, oceans choked with waste

Our selfish desires sealing humanity's hasty haste

And still we march on, blinded by our pride

Our eyes fixed on progress, with nature cast aside

We build our towers tall, monuments to our might

Yet fail to see the darkness in our relentless flight
