Carve me a pair of shoes that I can wear

I will be traveling to far off places

Searching for true love among all the faces

He pulled out his needle and spool of golden thread

And put them together, the needle was fed

Found petal-soft cushions and gossamer wings

He stitched them together with Cupid's bow strings

"I am the Shoemaker of Leatherware Square

And I know exactly why you have come here

Others have been here before, it is true

My craft is the best, I will make them for you"

He polished them with silver and they began to shine

He placed them in my hands, at last the shoes were all mine

I am so grateful to those shoes in every way

But before I closed the door, I heard the Shoemaker say

And I know exactly why you have come here
