He didn't say a word today

He just sat there in his chair

And every hour I brought the tray

But he never broke his stare

If I try too hard he pushes me away

My heart forgives a bruise or two

Sometimes he cries like a baby in my arms

And I rock him like I used to do

Do broken soldiers ever mend?

Is anybody on their side?

In a war without an end, another hero is denied

And all the battle weary mothers, are the bravest of them all

They took his uniform away
