Thank You for the No

For every single time that You said "no" And every time You closed the door I lift my hands and I say "thank You" For every single time that You said "wait" And every time You changed the way And lead me to where I didn't think I should be Because only You could see How much I needed You to lead Here I am by Your hand Because of Your kindness to refuse What, at the time, I called good Here I am by Your grace Because of Your wisdom to deny What, at the time, I called right Oh, thank You for the "no" Oh, I praise You in this wait And even in this fire that I face I know You're the God Who never change And You will use this for my good And even when I cannot understand I know You're the God Who has a plan And that Your ways are not anything like mine You're intentional, and I can fully Trust You with my life Here I am by Your hand Because of Your kindness to refuse What, at the time, I called good Here I am by Your grace Because of Your wisdom to deny What, at the time, I called right Oh, thank You for the "no" Oh, I praise You in the wait It's not happening to me It's happening for me Not just when I hear a "yes" and "now" But with the "no" and "wait" I still bow In surrender and in praise I'm as grateful either way 'Cause both are from You And both are for me Both "yes" and "no" Are setting me free They're both from Your heart They're both for Your glory They're both for my good They're both for my story So I will lift my song and I will praise For when I'm in Your hands, either way I have a reason to rejoice Oh, thank You for the "no"
