Thoughtseize

Silently I walk in the garden

Flowers once in bloom have died

A solitary statue that crumbled so long ago

Still sits and waits for your return

Serene and overgrown

In here we are alone

As vines tighten their grip

Around what's left of the stone

I place a crown of thorns like a halo

Over the figure destroyed by time

And scatter pastel petals on the ground

As our final offering to you

Now that the burden has

Finally been lifted

I purify the grounds with

Cleansing sage

Its fragrant smoke

Gives way to fire

I know I must burn

This effigy

I know I must destroy

This memory
