Cruel Communion

The Savior died to deliver men He saved them all when He rose again A loving Lord bestowed the gift The same that caused the Red Sea to shift All believers partake to be pure Their faults and sins they seek to cure Swallow the bread and drink the wine The body was given freely to dine Breaking the body Drinking the blood Come now, live forever Heaven awaits Me I know I'm pure Feast, fill, feed The Word made flesh and the flesh made fare A sacred rite conducted in prayer Nourished by the Prophet's skin His followers now absolved of sin Unto the world they proselytize A pious vision which clouds their eyes Sated by the Holy Ghost Consumed themselves by their Heavenly Host Breaking the body Drinking the blood Come now, live forever Heaven awaits Me I know I'm pure Feast, fill, feed Cruel communion consumed in droves By every mouth the Spirit chose To speak His Word and do His will In the name of love, by the thousands they kill Listen now what I say to you I am the way, the life, the truth My kingdom come, my will be done Bear witness and enter the Kingdom of Heaven Heaven, Heaven, Oh Breaking the body Drinking the blood Come now, live forever Heaven awaits This is a cruel communion
