How Are You?

Alright? How are you? It's another day on Planet Earth for me, obsessing over lyrics that a few

of you will hear and relate to. I'm late to the game in the grand scheme of things, but I've

warmed up for a decade. I am primed, ready to race. My thoughts race at night, as I wonder

when Facebook will stop showing me videos of toys from my childhood and start targeting me

with eco-friendly funeral plans. I plan to be doing this for a while, still. Why are we drawn to this?

History repeats its chord patterns and melodies.

I practice mindfulness when I remember and I have the time, and then I update my status to let

my friends know that I have been mindful. A full diary brings with it excitement and anxiety. An

empty diary isn't worth chopping down a tree for.

Four boys, one van. Little in the way of a plan, apart from going from town to town planting trees

and hoping that the local scenes will nurture them, so that eventually we can return to acres of

forest that provide shelter from the real world and fruit to feed our families.

Leaving is hard and traveling is knackering. I've shared so many beds with Jack, laid back to

back, it's now strange to sleep without him. I've seen the world through a windscreen. Traveled

further than Branson's big balloon. I've said I love you on the phone in one too many time

zones.

I zone in on minutia. Obsess over the future. I write songs about seizing the day and then stare

at my computer. It feels like we're skydiving. Hurtling towards the ground. One day I'll pull that

parachute, but right now

This actually feels right, now.
