Thanksgiving Day

It was late in the Fall

The ground was frozen

And the leaves had fallen

Just before the storm

I saddled up the horse

Rode the narrow trail

To the top of the hill

I looked down, down in the valley

So beautiful, God's creation

Had led us here to the promised land

It's a nationwide Thanksgiving Day

I'm an old man now, I'm sixty-five

I've seen many moons

And shooting stars go passing by

It's only a while when my time will come

To pass the torch to the younger ones
