Up in the sixth grade
I didn't wanna go to school
I just wanted to be cool
So I acted like a fool
Up in the sixth grade
Had to prove that I was tough
Bullies tried to call my bluff
But I couldn't get enough
Up in the sixth grade
I was kicking with the gangs
All they wanna do is bang
All I wanna do is to slang
Up in the sixth grade
Man that's when I started rappin
I just had to make it happen
Write my rhymes and got to clappin
This is when it started, everything that I am
I have been through too much, but I know I had some problems
Back then, always got in trouble, suspended from my classes
I didn't even care, I would rather be smoking grass with
All my homies, we'd be ditching, doing nothing right
Someone looked at me wrong, we'd be getting in a fight
I was not a good kid, I got bad grades, I had no A's
I wouldn't go to school even if it was cold and a snow day
And they couldn't make me, rebel without a cause
I'd do what I want, and nothing would make me stop
Especially my parents, teachers call them they didn't answer
They send mail I would grab it, they didn't get it, never had it
Never knew about my actions, they thought that I was in school
They didn't realize I was on the street acting like a fool
They didn't realize I didn't care if I lived or if I died
Or who I hung out with but you know I never tried
Up in the sixth grade
I didn't wanna go to school
I just wanted to be cool
So I acted like a fool
Up in the sixth grade
Had to prove that I was tough
Bullies tried to call my bluff
But I couldn't get enough
Up in the sixth grade
I was kicking with the gangs
All they wanna do is bang
All I wanna do is to slang
Up in the sixth grade
Man that's when I started rappin
I just had to make it happen
Write my rhymes and got to clappin
At this point in my life, I was hanging with the wrong people
Family members in them gangs, nothing I did was legal
Sipping on a 40 ounce, tryna flip a quarter pound
Roll a fatty up, light it up, and we pass it round
Then we gotta hit the cypher, jump in and I spit my rhymes
I didn't care how bad it was, I did it like all the time
Wanted to be like Master P, tryna write a masterpiece
Put a lot of hard work in, and I kept on practicing
But I had too many distractions, I didn't have discipline
No matter what I did back then, I would never see a win
I didn't have guidance or any encouragement
Parents didn't know where I was, and they didn't care where I went
But I learned how to survive and even to be a man
All on my own I didn't have help, nothing learned from my dad
He was locked up in prison, didn't visit, I didn't care
I would rather run the streets and do whatever's in the air
Up in the sixth grade
I didn't wanna go to school
I just wanted to be cool
So I acted like a fool
Up in the sixth grade
Had to prove that I was tough
Bullies tried to call my bluff
But I couldn't get enough
Up in the sixth grade
I was kicking with the gangs
All they wanna do is bang
All I wanna do is to slang
Up in the sixth grade
Man that's when I started rappin
I just had to make it happen
Write my rhymes and got to clappin
