Leaving Pocatello Idaho in a beat up ice cream van
Three misfits on a road trip, California was their plan
But each one has their demons or the cross they have to bear
The grandpa and his grandson and a vet to drive them there
It’s a wonder if they’ll make it in a van that’s got no power
Top speed they are rocking out at forty miles an hour
The grandson lost his confidence and the grandpa lost his mind
And it’s all up to that veteran to get them there on time
And it’s oil for that ice cream truck and whiskey for the vet
A guitar for the grandson who cannot play it yet
They picked up on this free born soul that gave them all a ride
He took them for their money and he took them for their pride
Now the reason for this road trip involves a pretty girl
In Redding California grandson wants to give her a whirl
With God’s help they might make it
Three days each one a trial
It’s a wonder it’s a miracle
A miracle a mile
It’s a miracle a mile.
