School’s gone, town’s the same
The parking lot still knows my name
My hoodie’s in a box somewhere
Along with dreams I used to wear
I drove past your parents' house
The porch light’s off, the swing’s ripped out
Your brother’s car was parked outside
Guess some ghosts don’t really die
We used to laugh for no good reason
Now I scroll through different seasons
Wish I called you back that night
Guess forever had a limit, right?
Now it’s ghost town feels and echo halls
Where we made plans with Sharpie walls
The Taco Bell’s a vape shop now
The mall’s a graveyard, stripped somehow
We said we’d leave and never fade
But most of us just overstayed
If I could go back, would I still pretend?
Or text you something I’d never send?
Your playlist popped up yesterday
I skipped the track — then hit replay
You liked sad songs before they hit
And now they hit too hard to quit
I found our yearbook in my shed
We looked like strangers in the head
But those dumb smiles knew the cost
Of growing up and getting lost
You kissed me once behind the bleachers
I laughed, then fell for all your t-shirts
You moved two states and changed your name
But somehow, nothing feels the same
Now it’s ghost town feels and echo halls
Our stories locked in bathroom stalls
The pizza place turned into flats
Where strangers live where we once laughed
We swore we’d tour and chase the sun
But only one of us got gone
If I could say what I meant back then
Would you still leave… or just hit “send”?
We were punk rock prom kings
Fireworks and dumb flings
Now I trade my chords
For rent receipts and daydreams
But maybe next July
I’ll drive by and say hi
To the version of me
You knew before goodbye
Now it’s ghost town feels and echo halls
Where the past still writes on broken walls
The skatepark’s rusted, weeds grew tall
But I still hear your voice each fall
We said we’d live like we were songs
But all I did was write you wrong
If I could go back, I’d let you in
And not be scared of where we’d been
