The alarm clock screams, the same old sound
Another day on this merry-go-round
I pour the coffee, tie the worn-out tie
Another perfect stranger with a tired, empty eye
Nine to five, a world of gray and chrome
Just a number in a system, far away from home
I punch the clock, I sit inside my cage
Just another actor on a sterile, empty stage
And the hours bleed together, a monotonous drone
Just a gear inside a machine I didn't choose to own
I work my hands to the bone, I give them all my time
But the life I'm working for is no longer truly mine
And I'm just a robot, running out of steam
Living out a version of someone else's dream
I work so hard for nothing, it's a pointless tired game
I don't even know my own family's name
I can't buy a new house, I can't buy a new car
Just a robot in a world that's gone too far
All this work is pointless, all this sacrifice
For a life that feels empty, at too high a price
I come home late, the house is dark and still
Just a ghost inside a life I can no longer feel
My kids are growing up, I see it in their eyes
They're becoming strangers right before my very eyes
I miss the school plays, I miss the birthday cakes
For the company's bottom line, for the company's sake
I want to give them everything, I want to see them smile
But I'm just trading moments for a little while
And the hours bleed together, a monotonous drone
Just a gear inside a machine I didn't choose to own
I work my hands to the bone, I give them all my time
But the life I'm working for is no longer truly mine
And I'm just a robot, running out of steam
Living out a version of someone else's dream
I work so hard for nothing, it's a pointless, tired game
I don't even know my own family's name
I can't buy a new house, I can't buy a new car
Just a robot in a world that's gone too far
All this work is pointless, all this sacrifice
For a life that feels empty, at too high a price
I see the ads on TV, of a life I'm supposed to want
A new car, a big house, a perfect, happy front
But the numbers on the screen, they just laugh in my face
I'm just running in place, in this endless, empty race
I'm a ghost in my own life, a shadow in my home
I'm so tired of being alone, even when I'm not alone
I'm just a robot, running out of steam
Living out a version of someone else's dream
I work so hard for nothing, it's a pointless, tired game
I don't even know my own family's name
I can't buy a new house, I can't buy a new car
Just a robot in a world that's gone too far
All this work is pointless, all this sacrifice
For a life that feels empty, at too high a price
I'm just a robot
Just a robot
Pointless, pointless
The alarm clock screams, the same old sound
Another day, on this merry-go-round
