You search and know me when I rise and when I fall

You understand me, my thoughts from You are not far

Before a word formed on my tongue, You knew them all

You’ve enclosed me, behind and before

Oh, Ever-Present, where can I flee

Where can I go where You will not be

On the wings of dawn or in the deepest sea

Your hand will hold me, Your hand will lead

Surely my sin will tear me away

Surely the shadows will hide me from Your face

But even the midnight will shine as bright as day

For You, great Light, keep darkness at bay

Oh, Composer, what beautiful design

In all creation, Your very song resides

All Your works are wonderful, my soul knows it well

You wove my inmost being, and there Your Spirit dwells

In Your book, You’ve determined my days

Each page written to bring You praise

How precious are Your thoughts toward me, how vast is their sum

They interwove our stories before mine had begun

Search me again and know my heart

Every doubt and anxious thought

Test me, refine me, remove all offense
