I used to stay up crying and wallowing in my sorrow

Just wanted to be normal

Just wanted to be cool

But every time I try I would always end up a fool

New city, new school

I swear it wasn't easy

I always sat alone and all the other kids would tease me

My teachers always doubt me

My family wouldn't listen

They told me I was stupider then all the other children

I was 10 years old

I didn't understand it

I'd hide inside my closet writing poems to distract it

I wonder why they hate me

I don't know what to do

God if you hear me praying I swear I'm crying to You

And Lord if you can see me

I'm begging on my knees

I don't think I can take any more of this Father please

I think I hit my limit

And still no one is listening

I wonder if when I'm gone that's when everyone will listen

It was Monday afternoon

I was coming home from school

I sat outside my building just thinking of things to do

I let the raindrops hit me and I felt it in my soul

I knew I couldn't take it

I knew I just had to go

I'm running up the stairs, tears running down my face

I knew that it was over I had to get out this place

I ran into my kitchen

And I pulled out a knife

I finally hit my last straw, I'm taking my life

But right before I did it

I had to stop and think

I got so much more to live for, can't let this be my brink

And 10 years later now I'm standing fucking tall

You think I don't remember, but I remember it all

To all of you that doubt me

Now I'm holding you closer

It's because of you that I made it out a soldier

I won't say that I hate you

Instead I wanna thank you

Because they gotta break you in order to fucking make you
