The Vessel

I finally got it

Oh, I stopped running up and down on borrowed time

I waited for sundown

Slowly started breathing in and out, and walked away

And I was heading for the light

With naked eyes throughout the night

Steering through a thousand different tides

Still I can’t reach the core

I finally see it

I’m silently breaking through the shell of discontent

For fear of oblivion

I jumped into the bottomless abyss of bygone days

It takes a sermon nor a song

To see what I’ve been doing wrong

Through the days, through the maze of time

Across the divide

Years are a vessel, oh, now I know I got all reason to believe

That age is a companion

Carrying the lessons that you learned along the ride

And as my secret dreams get older

I know they’re only getting stronger

I’ll be still amazed, still afloat
