I feel like a coal miner way back in the day

Sometimes I feel this life of mine's just hard in every way

If I stay on this mountain I never will be free

I've here and now decided I'm headin' to the sea

Since my girl done left me there's nothin' in this town

I wont work another day this job that's killing me

Forty miles behind me, two hundred more

To live that life without her, my will had simply died

Three months to the day now I've been in this harbor town

I took a job a'loadin' freight, hard labor on the ground

The pay is just as crappy and the work is just as hard

But you can't even light your smoke its so windy on the yard

Perhaps its time this miner packed his bags and gone on home

Maybe I was rash to leave and ain't cut out to roam

At least before I go I'd like just one more harbor night

I've made some friends at Cuzzy's bar and I'd like to say goodbye

I've been wand'rin' down this tunnel and I've yet to see the light

In walks this blue-eyed beauty and she asks me with a smile

Say you're not from around here, are ya stayin' for awhile?

Has anybody showed you 'round the other side of town

I motioned to the barmaid, lets have another round
