The Death of Sleep

Gaze upon a sunset as it slowly dissolves beyond the ridge

A relentless enemy in nature's will

Gaze upon a moonrise as it slowly develops across the land

An endless cycle fixed on repeat

Adaptation in darkness, transformation in oculus, trepidation in consciousness

Evolution in this abyss

Somnolent eyes begin to weep, surrender now to the god of sleep

Cease momentum, in the dead of night, no point to proceed if you cannot see

A glimmer in darkness shines, seductive it may seem, fear overcomes all the same

A choice must be made, to remain or to pursue

To remain is ignoring the signs to suffer for all eternity

To pursue is embracing the signs vanquishing all that stands in oblivion

This window of opportunity fades before these eyes, before these eyes

Decaying light will not wait for those who hesitate

Gain control of these limbs, scurry towards luminescence

Devour obscurity to end eternity, fog grows thicker as time withers

This chance may never come, may never come again

Losing strength as night progresses

As night steals what little is left to obtain

From a worthless vessel, I shall not give in

Somnolent eyes weep, surrender now to the god of sleep
