Better Than Yesterday

I'm doing better than yesterday Only by a little bit it's these steps we take It's these steps we, it's these steps we take Wake up early do my best to mediate Make a mango and banana protein shake Do a couple pushups till I feel in shape Make a video about happiness and what it takes It don't take a lot to tell myself I'm doing great Any little effort I make I congratulate Gradually my day to day becomes a fuller plate And I can finally find a way To balance work and play On the days when I feel jaded and unmotivated I don't have to hold myself To standards of the greatest If all that I can do is do the dishes Then I'll take it Tomorrow when they ask me how I'm doing What I'll say is I'm doing better than yesterday Only by a little but it's these steps we take That'll put me in a better place I'm not in a rush but I'm ready for change I make it feel so complicated To not fuel my self hatred I might not be at my best today But any effort I put in is never a waist Never doing nothing Doesn't happen all the sudden I get home from work And struggle to do something else productive But as long as I do just a little bit Of what I initially want to resist All the discomforts eventually lifts And turns into bliss I'm always happy I did something difficult Wonder why it's hard to convince myself Turns out evidence isn't what helps To make me feel compelled to do well Oh well It is what it is It's difficult making consistency stick The trick is to limit what I wanna fix And not start off so strict cause I'm doing better than yesterday Only by a little but it's these steps we take That'll put me in a better place I'm not in a rush but I'm ready for change I make it feel so complicated To not fuel my self hatred I might not be at my best today But any effort I put in is never a waist So much pressure to be something that I'm not yet I forgot that getting better is a process I might make it look effortless but that's nonsense Still I'm doing better than yesterday So much pressure to be something that I'm not yet I forgot that getting better is a process I might make it look effortless but that's nonsense Still I'm doing better than yesterday
