It's a fickle feeling when you realise,

The smile, when it falters,

It starts from the eyes.

And when I miss the way that it all was,

I see the ones around me,

As they forget the loss,

Of one close by...

And I think about that daughter

Who's grown up without her father,

She had one less hand to hold at crossroads.

I think about that lover

Growing old together

Was once the dream, but now the wind grows cold.

I think about that mum,

Who hadn't seen her son,

When he left to find the sun and as he runs

There's one more tear shed,

Tear wasted.

There's one more heavy heart,

For one that didn't make it.
