To anyone I’ve ever hurt, I’d like to say I’m sorry

If I made you cry or feel like dirt, if I caused you doubt or worry

There are no excuses I can give

Your compassion holds my fate

We learn these lessons as we live

Sometimes a little too late

And to anybody in my life who tried to show me kindness

And felt my indifference cut like a knife, please chalk it up to blindness

A young man blames his parents

And an old man blames his youth

And it makes no sense to mention names

Or fill in blanks and spaces

And we all have things we wish we could go back and do again

Once time has shown there was a better way
