Opium a banished heart

Cut a knife right through the door

Cross the pain and the seven seas

To the land, the land of ease

In the day the cradle fell

In the car your heart as well

To the sailor lost at sea

Might as well, a world well lost

Too high the bitter cost

In a dress not made for you

Opium the solitude

Read a book of poetry

Neath the shade of an old oak tree

Talk about the verse and rhyme

Tell me about it one more time

Did you dream in colors too

Bright against the world you knew

Tender are the tender parts

Broken is the broken heart

In the bed or in the wine

Looking for something divine

On the cross or in the grave

With nothing left to save

In the eyes of burning green

In the soul left unseen

Opium the banished heart

Floating in the ocean dark

Make it numb and make it grey

Just live another day

Walk a mile and find a bed

Rest the demons in your head
