King Of The Sky

I heard no sirens

Saw no flashing lights

But I saw the fear in my mothers eyes

When she took that call

Her face turned to white

And my stomach sank

Without knowing why

She pulled me in close

Not saying a word

Her body shook

I felt her tears through my shirt

She took in a breath

Let out a god awful cry

A plane had gone down

And no one survived

I cried till I slept

Then I woke and I wept

Oh the river ran high

For the King of the sky

I saw no faces

Though the church had it's fill

And I heard no voices

No ringing of bells

We put on our best

Said goodbye and God bless

Oh the rivers ran high

For the King of the sky

Till the rivers ran dry
