fighting spirits

the glass is empty

the plane is full

there’s a fly in the sink

resolutions, new year’s eve

a holiday waiting game

we’re all getting old

no one’s the same

i toss and turn through the night

i took your truck to the store

just to cry

seven miles to the house

wipe my tears

talk to myself

an old air mattress on the floor

another ham on the porch

burn the firewood
