The Vision

Follow in the footsteps of who I once was

And again, I’m reaching the close of this circle I pace

Now in the tracks, there is a crack that’s bleeding rays of blinding sun

Unmasking every face

It is the vision I have sought for so long

As I cross the threshold of where my mind had last been lost

It is the sight a lifetime’s been spent to behold

Nearly gone

On the war we wage for what is left of me

And what’s left of the world shudders

In momentary relief

Of my own conscience

Of those within my mind

Of my strongest desires

Of truths to which I’m blind

The mask undone, I’ve come to see a face

That was on my mind till when it was enslaved

Just outside my reach as they take our embrace

You couldn’t be saved
