Rugged Waters

There’s a ship out on the water that’s heading home

It’s coming back from parts unknown

And there’s a man out on the ocean

And every little motion she would make stays on his mind

Leaves him longing for the time

When they would laugh and dance around and get lost in their charms

And fall into each other’s arms

With every naut across these rugged waters deep and blue

Now sailing across the great Pacific has got its’ trials

Just like driving down the road ten thousand miles

When you’re looking at that northern star

And wondering just how far above it is

And how far your love she is

Early morning first day of July

There was a call down low that screamed out more like a cry

All the men on board well they worked like hell to make her float

But there was nothing they could do to save that doomed boat

She reads the letters she received from him so long ago

She reads them quiet to herself and reads them slow

And the very last line that her lover he had wrote

Said “My darling, not a day too soon til I get off this boat.”
