King Solomon's Dream

If tonight you closed your eyes and had a dream

That you can ask God for anything,

What would it be?

Would you ask Him to extend your life?

Lord, I know I’ve done wrong

Please give me time to make it right

Or would you ask for larger bank accounts?

Replace The Prophet with the profit, thumb through hundreds ‘til you losing count

Or would you try to take your haters out?

Release your wrath, Lord, kill ‘em all and later, you can sort it out

Or would you say: Before I ask for anything,

I wanna thank you for everything that you ever did for me

And my daddy, it could’ve ended so badly

Forgave him for all his sins and you didn’t abandon our family

You knew his sin was egregious but your forgiveness is greater

Grace and unmerited favor forever your servant’s faithful

Now daddy passed away and you have made me king

Yahweh Elohai I’m just a baby how am I to lead?

How am I supposed to figure out the ins and outs?

I got a multitude that’s adding up I gotta make it count

Give me a discerning heart so I can lead all your people

And when I see it I can distinguish the good from the evil

Lord I know that I’m young, but I am humble and eager

Lord make me a leader to guide your glorious people

God was so pleased:

Solomon, since this what you ask of me, I’m going beyond your needs

I’m giving you a wise and discerning heart

There’s never been another like you, you’ve been set apart

And there will never be one like you far as you can look

And I’m ah give you so much wisdom you can write a book

And I’m ah give you so much money man has never seen

As for your glory, you’re recorded as the greatest king
