I turned 23 when I was 13

Always five-10 years older than the kids next to me

Not sure what did it, maybe the hospital visits

Or being the new girl no one really gets

Oh but it was hard

Trying to convince yourself you're still a kid

When you're 14 and you can't play the games

That everybody wants you to play

Cause you're laying on the bathroom floor in pain

Then you're 17 and you can't take a breath

Your body aches with every step

They say you're wise but you didn't choose this test

I guess growing up doesn't always wish you the best

I moved across the country to chase a wild fantasy

A glimmer of light sat in that airplane seat

Courage fought on till the world was all but gone

A life of hope disappeared when spring had begun

Oh I was 20 when I lost my mind

Was ready to leave it all behind

Didn't know if I could make it one more night

21 seeing clear again

Right when I lost all my friends

I guess when you're happy they think you don't need them

I guess growing up leaves you lonely in the end

Never broken a bone but my heart's sure been through some breakin

Never thought I would say this, but I'm grateful for all of my changing

I think I can handle any nightmare that I might face today

I think I can make it, after all of this I'm gonna be okay

23 and I'm doing just fine

Not afraid of being put through fire

I'm confident that the flames just fuel my life

And more years just means more strength

I'll overcome anything

Can't wait to meet the next version of me

I guess growing up was never meant for the weak
