The leaves have fallen on the ground

And they're ready for my foot to stomp them

Crickley-crackly, crickley-crackly summer has got to them

Crickley-crackly, crickley-crackly time has got to them

The leaves have fallen on the ground

And it's time to stop and pack things up

Because the leaves were once a part of you and me

But now, they're all dried up

The leaves were beautiful little things

We both enjoyed them as we sat beneath the tree

Watching them grow, watching them grow

Their stems entangled, their branches inveigled,

Developing their many shades and hues

The leaves were lovely little things

So lively and fun as they swayed in those trees
