About Dave

Last night I had a dream he was still alive

Rollin' that Chevy up into my drive

Then I got on the line

And I told Rob and Joe

I woke up and it was all a lie

The rest of the day he was on my mind

There must be a part of me that ain't let go

Let me tell ya 'bout Dave

He was a long haired rock and roll fighting machine

After a fifth of vodka he could get real mean

But it was easy to see that the man had a gold plated heart

We worked framing crews in the mountains and the plains

He taught me how to build in the heat of the days

Yeah were carpenter brothers till I decided we were better apart

Now you know a little 'bout Dave

Balls to the wall

HB is what they called him

Master of the hammer and nail

He had a hard lived short life

Country boys carry knives

Hope he's with the man upstairs

Then I could see him again and maybe say a couple things that I'd like say
