The Day I Didn't Cry

Woke up like a queen of half-done things

Socks mismatched forgot my rings

Burnt my toast but danced in the smoke

Wrote a grocery list that's still a joke

The sun said hi but I ignored it

Too busy arguing with my closet

Spilled some coffee on my knee

But hey—at least it noticed me

"I mean who really needs matching socks?

The left one was loyal The right? Chaotic neutral"

I didn't cry today hooray

The tears called in sick anyway

My smile was late my brain went grey

But still — I showed up okay?

Left my phone at home felt wild

Walked the block like I'm a feral child

Sang to pigeons hummed off-key

They judged but didn't fly from me

Checked my inbox got no mail

So I sent one to myself inhale—

"Dear me u tried that's more than fine

Sincerely yours one step at a time"

"Note to self: You're not a mess

I didn't cry today that's gold

Left some feelings on hold

The world's a mess but so am I

We're tied – and I won this tie

Maybe love's not loud not sharp not fire

Maybe it's just breathing through the quiet tire

Maybe joy's not loud applause

Just a pat on your back for no cause

I didn't cry today surprise

Just blinked away the lullabies

Called my shadow by her name

And smiled when she did the same

"Today wasn't perfect

But I was kind to myself

And that counts"
