Dried Out

Burned on the inside Where the heart lies Silent and steaming Turned from the dark side Where the night cries Violent and screaming Yearned for the high tide But the shoreline's No longer redeeming Spurned from the outside By the closed minds Strident and scheming Dried out My blood is a powder That fours through my veins by the hour As the beating grows louder I was never consulted But injured and also insulted And here's what resulted Suddenly now All that I was is wicked away Dry as a bone Every last drop evaporates Sun beating down Wind blowing sand instead of rain All I have known Everything turned to dust today Awake, opened my eyes Came to realize I'm pointlessly dreaming Baked under blue skies Hate the sunrise Glaring and beaming Dried out Came to my senses It's useless to put up defenses Immolation commences As far as I spy Here's what I see Not a cloud in the sky Nor the shade of a tree Soon I will be Hung out to dry Can't mourn for me Got no tears to cry
