Max Plank was an instrumental figure in the development of quantum theory. In 1900 Plank hypothesized

that black body radiation emitted frequencies of light with specific spectrums of color also known as

wavelengths. This phenomena can be described as electromagnetism. His experimental predictions were

verified by scientific empirical evidence. Plank’s hypothesis described that frequency of light functioned

in discrete quanta or chunks. This explained that black body radiation did not function smoothly. This was

a defining moment in the history of physics. For instance, these developments were responsible for the

coined term quantum theory. Quantum mechanics is the study of microscopic systems and most cases,

specifically particles. One example would be the subatomic particle known as the Higgs Boson particle.

Furthermore, Werner Heisenberg formulated the mathematical postulates known as matrix mechanics. In

addition, Erwin Schrodinger developed the postulates know as wave mechanics. Schrodinger introduced a

concept known as the wave fuction. Is the wave function encompass all of reality or are there hidden

variables. Is the wave function a physical entity or just a tool for measurement. This is a controversial

topic and has been debated with the physics community for some time. Quantum mechanics has had a

significant impact on scientific innovation and scientific progress.
