The Prophet

Picture a prophet

Standing in the light of God

With a message for the people

Given from above (given from above)

But he lost his inspiration

Wanting the glory for his own

Leaving millions in starvation

For the word they never know

Oh, why do you keep on

Speaking without my light?

You once had the vision

But now you've lost your sight

Now the prophet

Thought he was the greatest one

And he just went right on talking

As if he didn't know the light had

Gone (didn't know the light had gone)

The scene looked almost funny

The people laughed at the foolishness

Till they discovered that they had nothing

And were sitting in total darkness

Oh, why do you keep on

Speaking without my light?

You once had the vision

But now you've lost your sight

Another prophet (another prophet)

Stood up holding high a torch

Which lightened the darkened landscape

And everyone could see once more (and everyone could see once more)

Healing their wounds with wisdom

As the beauty of a flower (the beauty of a flower)

And they all knew that he had come

To show them God's true power

Many have gone in my name

Speaking without my light

It can happen to you just the same
