I told my sister "I can't take this anymore"

I told my brother "I've got to find a way out"

We told each other that we'd be there at the end of the summer

Years spent fighting, and decades slamming doors

Makes you wonder, what is it all for

And when I can't hear you and you can't hear me, What are we gonna do?

Because the summer's gone and now we're through

Is it ok to say "I love you" in the rain

Or only when we die?

What good is it to say, "I'm sorry for the pain"

When you know that it will last a lifetime

The people we need are the people that we hurt

What can we do, everything makes things worse

But I keep hoping that one day things are gonna change

And summer will come and call my name
