Didn’t we see it coming?

Head hits the floor, ears humming

Half-closing eyes see faces erupt in joy and surprise

Liking the rise; loving the fall

Suddenly a voice no-one knows

Starts to echo down from higher rows,

This shows not over till we’ve heard our Northern boy sing.

So get on your feet and stand in the ring!
