I begin as a hoofer named Lucille LeSueur

Then Hollywood phoned, 1924

Made flicks as a flapper, some called me a whore but

I'm on the scene

The future MGM queen!

Changed my name to Crawford, I had ambition!

To be number 1 for box office, admission

Worked hard, married up

Earned beaucoup recognition

Up there on the screen

The reigning MGM queen!

Hit after hit, they put me on the map

So did sitting on ol' Louis B's lap

But, I took my job very seriously and became

Hollywood Royalty!

Clawed my way to the top in nails, jungle red

Had Fairbanks and Gable, and more, all in my bed

I'm the woman on top, the one getting ahead
