In the nose to tail that was wearing thin, the California incline wouldn't let us in,

I was edging close but thinking about cutting out

Well I made it farther than my Dad ever did, no airport transit freedom bid,

When we all passed through in 1984

In the end the things he talked about, didn't get planned or just didn't play out,

I never quite figured what stopped him from doing more
