I’ve been watching this world of late

Seems deception is the ruler of this age

Screams in the darkness, War on the poor

History has seen this all before

I’ve been silent as they destroy and abuse

Keeping quiet keeps the lies louder than truth

I’ve lost sisters, I’ve lost brothers

I’ve lost a baby at the hands of another

They weren’t just taken, but given away

Justifying barbarism in the modern day

They said you were a speck and I’d recover

But I was your mother

We were young and alone, Divided and conquered

Disinformed and defeated for years in the desert I wandered

Thought I was making sense, avoiding consequence

A human being has more meaning that convenience

Deep inside I knew it was wrong

But I held onto my pride and I went along
