From first exposure I thought we'd be walking down the aisle

But after years of ups and downs we made it to a point to amicably reconcile

As friends....at least, which is out of the question for how I intended it to be

I was thinking more so hot chocolate and gifts wrapped for the kids under the Christmas tree

Walking away from it all hurt so much on the inside

Tires burning the pavement as you pulled off as I cried

Now I'm burning roses trying to forget all of our memories

Looking in the mirror trying to hold things together while I'm sipping on this Hennessy

Never letting go of the distant memories

As they flash back like whip lash taking over and getting the best of me

But now I'm moving forward with a new shield of armor
