It's easy to think about cities as collections of buildings,

networks of roads,

a web of underground services -

all managed and controlled by entities like city hall, and large corporations.

But as the great urbanist Jan Gehl says,

"A good city is like a good party..."

If you look around, it can feel like society is in constant retreat mode.

Our politics are dominated by a desire to recreate the past,

rather than working toward a more desirable and inspiring future.

Is it possible for the People to drive human events

through resistance, creativity, and hope?
