these are hard times – nobody can ask, nobody can breathe

& these are long days – long hours alone – long hours in need

but the minutes burn hard, the seconds breed thoughts – second thoughts

& you see the world clear, and the world doesn't care – you're just burning air

you hold up the mirror & see what you are...

when you're always the hugger, never the hugged,

never give judgement, always get judged

always the lover, never the loved

the only word is goodbye

when you're always the kisser, never the kissed

always the misser, never the missed

always the giver, never the gift

the only word is goodbye

these are dark days, it can't be denied, it can't be ignored

& darkness pervades innocent lives, innocent thoughts

& it makes someone question what they are here for, what they deserve

& to answer those questions takes someone braver, takes someone's nerve

you hold up the mirror & see who you are...

when you're always the hugger, never the hugged,

never give judgement, always get judged

always the lover, never the loved

the only word is goodbye

when you're always the kisser, never the kissed

always reminding that you exist

always the giver, never the gift

the only word is goodbye

everybody is lonely all of the time
