I knew heaven

When I was 5

Endless pleasure

So free and so alive

I was eleven

When the hammer fell

This new feeling I should be

Ashamed to be myself

Is that the day that I became so uncomfortable in my skin?

They told me my soul was untouchable without Him

Is it a sin to get to heaven too soon?

Does a flower need permission just to bloom?

I took a lover at 25

He couldn't please me

At 37 I forgave my past

I lost religion

And I found god at last

Always edging toward heaven kept somewhere

Just out of reach
