Lately im thinking bout getting a second job

Make a lil extra change walking someone else dog

Cutting grass and trimming trees don’t sound so bad to me.

Till I pass out in the summer heat. It’s too damn hot to breathe

Coming up short

No money in the bank

Can’t pay my bills

No gas in the tank

Why oh why do the people up above

Keep taking what I ain’t got to give when I’m struggling just to live

Drove down the river road with a shovel and

Some boots

Met up with Gardiner and some folks to do some good

There ain’t no money in planting cypress trees

Volunteering in the swamp and mud up to my knees

Coming up short

No money in the bank

Can’t pay my bills

No gas in the tank

Why oh why do the people up above

Keep taking what little I got to give when I’m strugglin just to live

This old guitar of mine is one - emotional gold mine

Striking chords and singing tunes opens up my heart and mind

All that feels mighty fine. Makes me wanna sway and croon

But when that rent is do I can’t pay with a tune
